Asian Peanut Sauce

This Chinese-based peanut sauce is great as a dip for fried tofu or egg rolls, a sauce for cold noodle salads or hot noodle stir-fry, or with a rice or grain bowl.
Ingredients
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • ½ cup very hot water
  • 3 teaspoons chile-garlic sauce
  • 4 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • Salt and fresh-ground black pepper
  • 118.29ml creamy peanut butter
  • 38.34g tamari or soy sauce
  • 17.04g minced garlic (about 3 cloves)
  • 118.29ml very hot water
  • 12.78g chile-garlic sauce
  • 51.12g rice vinegar
  • 8.52g brown sugar
  • Salt and fresh-ground black pepper

Preparation
STEP 1

In a bowl, mix peanut butter, soy sauce and garlic. Whisk in hot water.

STEP 2

Add chile-garlic sauce, vinegar and sugar and whisk to blend. Season with salt and pepper.

STEP 3

Add more water for a thinner sauce and more peanut butter for a thicker sauce.

STEP 4

Let stand at room temperature for one hour, or cover and refrigerate.
