Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅛ teaspoon cayenne or black pepper, optional
- 3 cups raw nuts of choice (pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts etc.)
- Extra sugar for tossing
- 236.59ml sugar
- 59.15ml water
- 12.78g cinnamon
- 4.26g salt
- 1.07g nutmeg
- 0.53g cayenne or black pepper, optional
- 709.76ml raw nuts of choice (pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts etc.)
- Extra sugar for tossing
After choosing your favorite nut the rest is easy! These are sweet, crunchy and a little spicy if you choose! They are delicious eaten on their own, as a topping for salads, cheese or ice cream, or even given as gift!
Preparation
STEP 1
Preheat oven to 375°F.
STEP 2
Heat a large pan to medium heat. Add sugar, water, cinnamon, salt and additional spices if using. Allow to heat until fully melted and bubbly stirring regularly.
STEP 3
Add nuts to sugar spice mixture and stir to coat until sugar starts to crystallize. Spread candied nuts out onto a parchment lined sheet pan.
STEP 4
With a spatula toss nuts with additional sugar to coat.
STEP 5
Transfer to oven and bake until all the moisture is gone, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely before storing.
