Candied Spiced Nuts

After choosing your favorite nut the rest is easy! These are sweet, crunchy and a little spicy if you choose! They are delicious eaten on their own, as a topping for salads, cheese or ice cream, or even given as gift!
Ingredients
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ⅛ teaspoon cayenne or black pepper, optional
  • 3 cups raw nuts of choice (pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts etc.)
  • Extra sugar for tossing
  • 236.59ml sugar
  • 59.15ml water
  • 12.78g cinnamon
  • 4.26g salt
  • 1.07g nutmeg
  • 0.53g cayenne or black pepper, optional
  • 709.76ml raw nuts of choice (pecans, walnuts, almonds, cashews, peanuts etc.)
  • Extra sugar for tossing

Preparation
STEP 1

Preheat oven to 375°F.

STEP 2

Heat a large pan to medium heat. Add sugar, water, cinnamon, salt and additional spices if using. Allow to heat until fully melted and bubbly stirring regularly.

STEP 3

Add nuts to sugar spice mixture and stir to coat until sugar starts to crystallize. Spread candied nuts out onto a parchment lined sheet pan.

STEP 4

With a spatula toss nuts with additional sugar to coat.

STEP 5

Transfer to oven and bake until all the moisture is gone, about 10 minutes. Let cool completely before storing.
