- 1 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups chopped apples
- ½ cup warm coffee
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- Topping:
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped nuts
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 236.59ml butter, melted
- 236.59ml sugar
- 1 egg
- 354.88ml all-purpose flour
- 4.26g baking powder
- 2.13g baking soda
- 2.13g cinnamon
- 473.18ml chopped apples
- 118.29ml warm coffee
- 4.26g vanilla
- Topping:
- 118.29ml brown sugar
- 118.29ml chopped nuts
- 1.07g cinnamon
Grab some apples and let’s bake! The Nakata family – owners of T&C – created this recipe with apples handpicked from their MiddleField Farm on Bainbridge Island. Join the tradition with a slice of sweet and simple cake.
Preparation
STEP 1
Preheat oven to 350°F.
STEP 2
In a large bowl mix butter, sugar, egg, flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, apples, coffee and vanilla.
STEP 3
Pour batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
STEP 4
In a small bowl mix brown sugar, nuts, and cinnamon. Sprinkle topping over batter.
STEP 5
Bake cake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool at room temperature for about 20 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
Options
The original recipe calls for shortening or margarine. A true testament to the times. These days we prefer butter, but feel free to give the original a try!
