Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup cold water
- 3 ounces garlic chives, cut into 2-inch pieces
- ¼ sweet onion, thinly sliced, optional
- Cooking oil
- Dipping sauce:
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
- 236.59ml flour
- 2.13g salt
- 2.13g sugar
- 236.59ml cold water
- 85.05g garlic chives, cut into 2-inch pieces
- 0.25 sweet onion, thinly sliced, optional
- Cooking oil
- Dipping sauce:
- 12.78g soy sauce
- 4.26g rice vinegar
- 12.78g water
- 4.26g toasted sesame seeds
Garlic chives have a flatter leaf than traditional chives and give a beautiful garlic flavor to your food. They bloom white flowers that are also edible and provide a lovely garnish. These simple Korean-style pancakes are a delicious way to enjoy them as a snack or side dish.
Preparation
STEP 1
In a medium bowl mix together flour, salt, and sugar. While mixing add cold water.
STEP 2
Fold chives and onions into batter.
STEP 3
Heat a large non-stick skillet to medium-high heat. Add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom. About 2 teaspoons.
STEP 4
Once oil is hot add batter into pancake size of your choice. Either large or small. Cook until browned about 2 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining batter.
STEP 5
Serve whole or cut into pieces with dipping sauce.
Options
For a spicy version add either a ¼ teaspoon Korean chile pepper or ½ teaspoon gochujang to batter.
