Plank grilling adds a ton of flavor from the smoke of the wood. Try using your favorite beverage to soak the plank and add a personal touch!

Preparation
STEP 1

Soak plank in liquid of choice for 1 to 2 hours.

STEP 2

Brush salmon with oil and season well with salt and pepper.

STEP 3

Heat grill to medium-high. Place plank on grill and cover for about 5 minutes, or until plank starts to smoke.

STEP 4

Carefully transfer salmon onto plank, skin side down, and close grill. Reduce heat to medium, or push coals to edges of grill, keeping plank in center. Close grill and cook until just cooked through (15-25 minutes, depending on size of salmon). Remove from grill and serve immediately.

Options

Note: Try topping the salmon with any of the following before grilling: Lemon slices and fresh dill, your favorite salmon rub, garlic butter or a light sprinkling of brown sugar.
