Miso is a Japanese fermented paste made from soy beans. It gives food a wonderful salty, savory, umami flavor. You’ll find miso in white (mildest), yellow or red.
Preparation
STEP 1
Whisk together the miso, sesame oil, soy, ginger, honey and oil.
STEP 2
Poke holes in the steaks with a fork to tenderize and help the marinade soak in. Place the steak in the marinade and refrigerate for 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
STEP 3
Remove steak from the marinade. The marinade is thick and will coat the steak.
STEP 4
Grill, broil or pan-fry steak about 5-10 minutes per side, depending on thickness. Cook until internal temperature reaches 125˚-135˚ for medium rare to medium.
STEP 5
Garnish with green onions or chives. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes seasoned with wasabi.
