Halibut with Dill Sauce

For maximum flavor, this recipe bakes the sauce directly on the fish. If halibut is not for you, try using a different fish, and if you have time to plan, make the sauce the day before!
Ingredients
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup finely diced red onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh minced dill (or 1 tablespoon dried)
  • 2 pounds halibut fillets, skinned
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 118.29ml mayonnaise
  • 118.29ml sour cream
  • 118.29ml finely diced red onion
  • 25.56g fresh minced dill (or 1 tablespoon dried)
  • 907.18g halibut fillets, skinned
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Preparation
STEP 1

Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, onion and dill. Season to taste with salt and pepper. (Sauce is best made one day ahead and refrigerated until ready to use.)

STEP 2

Preheat oven to 400°F.

STEP 3

Pat fish dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper. Place halibut in a lightly oiled baking dish. Spread sauce over top of halibut (makes a generous layer of sauce, like frosting a cake).

STEP 4

Bake, uncovered, for 20-30 minutes, or until halibut is just cooked through and top is nicely browned. Serve hot.
