A fun and spooky treat for Halloween! There will be plenty sweets around, so here’s a healthier option that’s still lots of fun to make and eat.
Cut a middle section out of the skin side of the apples wedges to create a “mouth.” Imagine cutting a triangle and your two knife cuts meeting at the top.
Coat the inside of the opening with a thin layer of peanut butter.
Stick the sunflower seeds in the top of the “mouth” to create “teeth.”
Place a sliced strawberry along the bottom as the “tongue,” letting the peanut butter hold it in place.
Cut a mini marshmallow in half and place the cut side on the top of the apple as “eyes,” or just one to make a one-eyed funny face. Use a little dab of peanut butter to get them to adhere.
Push a mini chocolate chip into the marshmallow to finish the look, then repeat the steps for the other apple pieces.
Tossing your cut apple slices before decorating with a mixture of 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup of water will help keep them from browning.
