Frozen puff pastry is one of our favorite short cut ingredients. Excellent for a quick dessert, but also for appetizers and simple entrees such as this delicious asparagus tart!

Preparation
STEP 1

Preheat oven to 400°F.

STEP 2

Spread thawed puff pastry on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Score the outer inch with a knife to create a border. Poke holes with a fork throughout the middle and bake crust for 10 minutes to par-cook.

STEP 3

Trim bottoms of asparagus and toss with savory jam.

STEP 4

Remove crust from oven and press down center if puffed up. Sprinkle with Emmental. Place asparagus in a single layer evenly over cheese.

STEP 5

Sprinkle with Asiago, lemon zest, salt and pepper.

STEP 6

Brush edges of puff pastry with beaten egg. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until pastry is browned, cheese is melted and asparagus is cooked through.

Options

This recipe works well with many different cheeses, such as goat cheese, Gruyère, and sharp white cheddar.
