  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large loaf crusty artisan bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • ½ cup cream
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground nutmeg, optional
  • Dash salt
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or other nuts
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Maple Syrup
  • Whipped Cream
  • 51.12g butter

  • 118.29ml cream
  • 25.56g sugar
  • 12.78g vanilla extract
  • 4.26g ground cinnamon
  • 0.53g ground nutmeg, optional

  • 1 stick butter
  • 236.59ml packed dark brown sugar
  • 236.59ml chopped pecans or other nuts
  • 2.13g ground cinnamon
  • Maple Syrup
  • Whipped Cream

Preparation
STEP 1

Generously butter 9x13-inch glass baking dish. In a large bowl, combine eggs, milk, cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Mix with a hand blender or whisk until frothy.

STEP 2

Place bread in baking dish. Pour mixture over bread, cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.

STEP 3

Preheat oven to 350°F.

STEP 4

Combine butter, brown sugar, nuts and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Blend to form a crumbly texture. Spread evenly over bread and bake for 40 minutes, until puffed and golden.

STEP 5

Serve with maple syrup and whipped cream.

Options

This can be made dairy free by swapping out milk, cream and butter with non-dairy alternatives at a 1:1 ratio. Try adding banana, berries, or chocolate chips before baking.
