Tartar Sauce

Makes about 2 cups


  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup pickle dill or sweet relish
  • 2 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Combine all ingredients and refrigerate for one hour before serving.
Optional additions:
1 tablespoon rinsed and chopped capers
1 tablespoon chopped chives, parsley, dill or tarragon
1 hard-boiled egg, chopped
Tabasco to taste
