You asked for it, Ballard, and we’re delivering—literally! We were planning to introduce online ordering later this year, but due to increased demand (for obvious reasons) we’ve fast-tracked the project. Online grocery ordering is as new to us as it may be for many of our customers, and while it might not be perfect at first we look forward to improving this new service together.
See our FAQs below for more details, but here’s how it works in a nutshell.
We welcome you to give it a try!
Your friends at Ballard Market
Select the Order Online link. You can shop and place orders at any time and even add items to your cart at different times, then place your order when it’s complete.
You will need to create a new account on our online store even if you have one set up for our primary website. Click here to create a new account.
Most, but not all. And we’ll keep adding to the online selection as we go along (including alcohol and some bulk food items). There will definitely be enough variety to allow you a full shopping experience.
Yes, including sale pricing. Though the retails you’ll be charged will be for the day your order is fulfilled, not the day you’ve placed the order.
When your pickup or delivery time is approaching, our own staff will do your shopping for you and bag it in paper bags. Anything that needs to be refrigerated will be stored in a cooler until it’s time for pickup or delivery.
You’ll need to order at least two hours prior to your preferred delivery or pickup time. That said, we are limited in how many orders we can fulfill in a day and the pickup and delivery dates/times available may be later than two hours after placing your order.
When you place your order, you’ll choose from available dates and times. When that time arrives, park in one of the parking spots reserved for Online Order pickup on the side of the building off NW 56th Street. You’ll see a sign asking you to text our Online Order Pickup number, and we’ll bring your groceries out to your car. Minimum order size for pickup is $15.
When placing an order for delivery, you’ll choose from available dates and times. You’ll also be able to add notes for the driver if necessary. Your groceries will be delivered to your front door, and you don’t need to be home (though you’ll want to refrigerate perishable items immediately). Minimum order size for delivery is $35. We have a limited delivery area around the market, including Ballard and most of the Crown Hill, Greenwood, Wallingford and Fremont neighborhoods. When you enter your address on the site, you’ll see if delivery is available in your area.
We’re excited to partner with PacWesty, located on Bainbridge Island, who will deliver your online orders in their vans, some of which are electric vehicles. They are as vigilant in their safety measures as we are in our market, following stringent sanitation procedures, wearing PPE, and practicing social distancing. We’re confident you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.
We will do our best to keep the site updated with out of stock items removed, but we might not always be able to. When selecting an item, customers will have the option of allowing for substitutions.
Yes, same as in the market due to high demand for certain products during the COVID-19 crisis.
A 5% service fee will be applied to all orders to help cover our personal shopper costs. There’s no additional fee for drive-thru pickup. Delivery to addresses within our delivery area is $9.99.
