- 2 slices bread of choice per sandwich
- 2 slices cheese per sandwich
- Butter or oil
Butter can be spread on each side of the bread or drizzle about 2 tablespoons of oil in a heated skillet, and place on bread on the hot oil. Add more oil as needed when you flip the sandwich.
Cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes on each side, or until crisp and golden brown.
If adding additional ingredients, place between the cheese. Always have at least 2 slices of cheese and place one next to each side of bread, this is the glue that holds it all together.
Bread Variations: Pumpernickel, rosemary, sourdough, roasted garlic, Pan du George, wraps.
Meat Variations (always place between the cheeses): Pastrami, ham, turkey, salami, prosciutto, pepperoni.
Cheese Variations: Provolone, Havarti, pepper Jack, Brie, blue cheese, Camembert, Swiss, Gruyere, fontina, sharp or flavored cheddar. Combine more than one cheese. Add chopped dried fruit from Bulk Foods or sliced apple or pear between the cheeses. Try spreading on some jams or pastes – we carry wonderful varieties, both sweet and savory.
Vegetable Variations: Slice roasted peppers, chopped artichokes, chopped olives, roasted garlic, Peppadew, grilled asparagus, pesto and roasted tomatoes, tapenade, marinated mushrooms.
