Layered Pumpkin Mousse Trifle

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pure pumpkin
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix, prepared according to package directions
  • 1 spice cake mix, prepared according to package directions
  • 1 pint whipped cream, whipped and sweetened with confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 cup toasted nuts (pecans, walnuts, almonds)


Using an electric mixer, beat cream cheese and pumpkin in a medium bowl at medium speed until well-blended.
Add vanilla and spice. Mix well.
Gently fold in prepared pudding.
Cool cake and cut into 1-inch cubes.
Cover bottom of a deep bowl with a layer of cake.
Top with a layer of mousse, then a layer of whipped cream.
Repeat process using remaining ingredients, or until bowl is full.
Finish off with whipped cream and garnish with nuts. Chill until serving time.
