Ginger and Rum Glaze for Ham

  • 1/2 cup chopped preserved ginger in syrup
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup dark rum
  • Pinch cayenne, cinnamon or allspice


Mix together in a medium bowl to form a glaze.
Set mixture aside until ready to glaze ham.

This glaze is suitable for a 5- to 7-pound cooked ham. Use for basting lightly during cooking, and then to thickly coat ham during last 20-30 minutes of cooking. See separate recipe for baking ham.
