Bourbon-Glazed Ham

Ingredients

  • 1 16-pound ham
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup dry English mustard
  • 1/4 cup bourbon whiskey

Directions

Preheat oven to 300°F.
Place ham fat side up in a roasting pan with water. Cover with foil and bake for 3 1/2 hours, until internal temperature reaches 130°F.
Trim away all but 1/8 inch of fat and, with a sharp knife, score ham in a diamond-like pattern. Drain excess fat.
Combine sugar, mustard and bourbon in a small sauce pan. Cook to dissolve sugar and burn off alcohol in bourbon.
Spoon mixture over ham, turn heat up to 425°F and bake for 15-20 minutes until glossy glaze has formed. Carve into slices and serve at once.

Delicious with roasted asparagus and buttermilk biscuits or sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce.
