Baked French Toast à l'Orange

  • 8 eggs
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 16 slices sandwich bread
  • 1 cup orange marmalade


Whisk together eggs, orange juice, milk and nutmeg. Set aside.
Butter a large casserole dish.
Spread one side of each slice of bread with marmalade and layer in dish.
Pour egg mixture over bread. Gently press bread down into egg.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden and slightly puffed.
Cool for 8-10 minutes before serving.
