- 4 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground clove
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 4 of your favorite baking apples (Honeycrisp. Gala, Braeburn, Jonagold, Granny Smith, Pink Lady)
In a mixing bowl, stir together brown sugar, cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Add butter; stir together until well combined.
Use a melon scoop or small spoon to core apples, leaving bottom of apple intact.
Divide butter mixture evenly between apples and pack into cavity.
Place in a buttered 8 x 8-inch baking dish. Bake 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
